Haitian Football Federation’s President, Dr Jean Bart says at least 30 members of the country\'s football family have been confirmed dead in the wake of last Tuesday’s massive earthquake, which measured 7.0 on the Richter scale.

Dr Jean Bart confirmed the number of deaths to Jamaica Football Federation’s President, Captain Horace Burrell, who visited the ravaged Caribbean island on Sunday.

Captain Burrell was requested by the Caribbean Football Federation (CFU) and football’s world governing body FIFA to visit the French speaking Caribbean territory on a fact-finding mission on Sunday.

Captain Burrell, a Senior Vice-President of the CFU, said he was also informed that at least 20 members of the Haitian football fraternity are still buried in the rubble.

Captain Burrell, who returned to Jamaica yesterday, says Dr Bart was badly injured with cuts and bruises all over his body.

Dr Bart and other members of the Haitian Football Federation were at a committee meeting when the earthquake struck.
