Jamaica’s Under-20 Reggae Girls suffered a major setback to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Germany this July when they lost 6-0 to defending World Champion USA in Guatemala last night.

The match was the first for both teams in Group ‘B’ of the final round CONCACAF Under-20 World Cup qualifiers.

Sydney Lerouz scored two goals and assisted on another, to lead the USA to victory.

Christine Nairn scored a goal in each half and Teresa Noyola and Tiffany McCathy each added a second-half goal for the Americans.

The Jamaicans will next tackle Mexico tomorrow and then play their final match on Monday against Trinidad and Tobago.

Jamaica is hunting one of three spots to the FIFA World Cup.

The two group winners will qualify automatically, while the third team will be decided by a playoff between the second-placed teams from the two groups.

In the other Group ‘B’ match last night, Mexico defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-1.

Group ‘A’ consists of hosts Guatemala, Canada, Cuba and Costa Rica.
