West Indies ousted from ICC Under-19 World Cup

West Indies crashed out of the International Cricket Council Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand today after losing by 4 wickets to Pakistan in their semi-final match at Bert Sutcliffe Oval.



Sent to bat, the young Windies compiled 212 for 8 off their 50 overs and Pakistan rallied from a perilous 49 for 4 in the 20th over, to secure victory at 213 for 6 off 48.3 overs, with Hammad Azam stroking a match-winning 92 not out.



Jason Holder took most wickets for West Indies with 2 for 28.



Yannic Cariah, 1 for 25, Nelson Bolan 1 for 30, and John Campbell 1 for 48 were the other wicket takers for West Indies.



Earlier, Kraigg Brathwaite 85 and Shane Dowrich 55 scored half centuries for West Indies, while Andre Creary chipped in with 41.



Sharmad Bhatti and Raza Hazan ended with 2 wickets apiece for Pakistan.



Pakistan’s opponents in Saturday’s final will be decided when Australia play Sri Lanka in the second semi-final on Wednesday.



West Indies will play-off for third place on Friday against Wednesday’s second semi-final losers.
