Bernard leads Jamaica to third straight victory

Dave Bernard Junior led leaders Jamaica to an innings and 27-run victory over Guyana in the West Indies Cricket Board regional first-class championship in Barbados yesterday.



Bernard finished with 6 wickets for 40 runs, as Guyana, following on 263 runs behind, were dismissed for 236 in their second innings about five minutes before the lunch interval on the fourth and final day of the third round match at Foursquare Oval.



Guyana had resumed on 161 for 4, needing a further 102 runs to make Jamaica bat a second time.



Final results in the match are Jamaica 429, Guyana 166 and 236.



The result means Jamaica remain the run-a-way leaders with a maximum 36 points.



They are followed by Barbados on 21, while Combined Colleges and Campuses and Windward Islands are on 12 each. Trinidad and Tobago are next on 9, while Leeward Islands are on 6 and Guyana at the bottom of the standings on 3.



The Jamaicans have drawn a bye in the next round, starting on Friday.
