A United States federal judge has ruled that a major insurance company in Britain must pay lawyers to defend disgraced Texas billionaire, Sir Allen Stanford.
District Judge, David Hittner, dismissed Lloyd’s of London’s request to disregard the lawsuit by Sir Allen and some of his co-defendants to force the insurance company to pay for their legal costs.
US prosecutors have charged Sir Allen with cheating investors in high-yield certificates of deposits at his Antigua-based Stanford International Bank.
He’s currently in a Houston jail awaiting trial, which a federal judge says will get underway next January.
