Half a million flee Haiti

The United Nations has estimated that about half a-million people have fled the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, since January\'s devastating earthquake.

However, the UN said that rather than seeking refuge at the resettlement camps set up by aid agencies, most are going to live with friends and family in the countryside.

The UN\'s humanitarian affairs coordinator, John Holmes, says shelter had been given top priority by the UN and the other relief organizations in Haiti.

He stressed that the tent cities are only a temporary solution.
