The Guyana government is concerned that at least 35 per cent of the country’s experienced nurses are leaving each year to take up overseas jobs.

Health Minister Leslie Ramsammy says that kind of exodus is putting a strain on Guyana’s health services.

A study by the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) has confirmed that Guyana is losing a significant percentage of its experienced nurses each year due to migration.

PAHO has agreed that this development, is affecting the local health care.
