Flow Champions Cup kicks off next week

The 2010 season of Jamaica’s Premier Knockout football competition, the Flow Champions Cup will kick off on February 18 with increased sponsorship.



This year represents the second of a three-year, $28 million sponsorship for the tournament.



The Flow Champions Cup winner will receive $800,000, a 33 per cent increase over last season’s figure, while the runners-up will receive $400,000, also a 33 per cent increase.



The semifinal losers will receive $200,000, while each quarterfinal loser will pocket $90,000.



Other major incentives include $70,000 for the most valuable player and $50,000 each to the winning coach and the top goal-scorer.



The top six premier league teams as of the end of 2009 receive an automatic bye in the second round to be played on March 3 and 4 where they will be grouped with the 10 teams advancing from the first round.
