Reggae Boyz to face Argentina
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz will tackle football giants Argentina in a real David versus Goliath friendly international showdown tonight at 8.15 p.m. Jamaica time.
The clash takes place in the resort town of Mar del Plata at the Jose Marilla Minella Stadium in Argentina.
Jamaica won their last game 1-0 against Canada at the National Stadium two Sundays ago, while Argentina beat Costa Rica 3-2 at home in their recent match.
Argentina, the two-time champions and almost a permanent fixture at the World Cup Finals, are ranked eighth in the world, while Jamaica are ranked at 78th.
The last time Argentina and Jamaica met on the field, Argentina routed the Reggae Boyz 5-0 in the group phase of the 1998 World Cup.
The teams will not be at full strength tonight.
The Jamaicans will be missing most of their overseas-based professionals.
Among those missing from the Jamaica side will be US-based captain Tyrone Marshall, and Europe-based Demar Phillips and Luton Shelton, whose second-half strike spurred the Reggae Boyz past Canada 1-0.
