Argentina beat Jamaica
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz turned in a brave performance last night against football giants Argentina but conceded two late goals and were beaten 2-1 in their friendly international game at the Jose Marilla Minella Stadium in Argentina.
Jamaican, ranked 78th in the world, took the lead in the 46 minute through overseas-based Ryan Johnson, who headed home.
It was Johnson’s first goal for the Reggae Boyz in only his third match after making his debut for Jamaica on April 11, 2006 against the USA.
However, Argentina ranked eighth in the world, hit back late in the game through captain Martin Palmero and Ignacio Canuto in the dying moments.
The game was the first meeting between the teams since the 1998 World Cup. On that occasion, Argentina routed the Reggae Boyz 5-0 in the group phase.
