Afghanistan beat USA
Afghanistan secured a place in the Super Fours stage of the International Cricket Council World 20/20 Qualifier today with a 29-run victory over the United States at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Afghanistan join hosts United Arab Emirates, who have already qualified for the next stage.
The US opened the tournament with a win over Scotland but followed that up with consecutive losses to Group ‘A’ rivals Ireland and Afghanistan and bowed out after top-seeded Ireland beat Scotland by 37 runs.
In Group ‘B’, United Arab Emirates beat Canada by 42 runs for their third consecutive victory and were joined in the Super Fours by Netherlands who beat Kenya by seven wickets.
Both Afghanistan and UAE will carry forward two points by virtue of their wins over Ireland and Netherlands, respectively.
