Jamaica, Barbados face off
The fifth round of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) first class championship bowls off today in Guyana with leaders Jamaica facing third place Combined Campuses and Colleges in a day/night match at the National Stadium at Providence.
The Jamaicans will enter the match with a perfect record and well on their way of marching to their third straight four-day title.
However, they were forced to make changes to their squad for the remaining three games.
Jamaica will be without out-of-favour Test pacer Daren Powell, who has quit the team for the rest of the season and Brendan Nash, Nikita Miller and Wavell Hinds, who are on West Indies duty.
They have been replaced by leg-spinning all-rounder Nkrumah Bonner, fast bowlers Andre Russell and Jason Dawes, and off-spinner Bevon Brown.
Combined Campuses and College, on 24 points in third place, have made two changes to their side that beat Guyana in the last round in Barbados, replacing batsman Nekoli Parris and injured fast bowler Jason Bennett with Jamal Smith and Gilford Moore.
In the round’s other games, second place Barbados who are three points behind Jamaica will play bottom place Guyana at Albion, while over at Bourda, fifth place Windward Islands and sixth place Leeward Islands will face off.
