Jamaica, CCC lock in tight battle

Tournament leaders Jamaica and Combined Campuses and Colleges were locked in a tense battle for outright victory in their West Indies Cricket Board regional first-class match after yesterday’s third and penultimate day.



The match is being played at the Albion Sports Complex in Guyana.



Jamaica, who resumed yesterday on 37 for two in their second innings, were bowled out for 164 to leave Combined Campuses and Colleges a victory target of 206 in their day/night fifth round match.



Combined Campuses and Colleges closed on 115 for four, just 91 runs away with six wickets standings.



Jamaica’s captain Tamar Lambert claimed three for 18 from 16 miserly overs, but his opposite number Floyd Reifer remained not out on 25 to boost Combined Campuses and Colleges’ chances.



Donovan Pagon top scored in Jamaica’s second innings with 54 against the bowling of Kavesh Kantasingh four for 53 and Kevin McClean two for 28.



Scores in the match so far, Jamaica 202 and 164, Combined Campuses and Colleges 161 and 115 for four.



Over at Albion Sports Complex, Barbados are highly fancied to beat bottom place Guyana on today’s final day of their match.



Guyana, set 329 for victory, were struggling at 59 for three in their second innings still needing 270 more runs for avoid defeat.



Scores in that game so far are Barbados 403 and 154 for nine declared, Guyana 229 and 59 for three.



Over at Bourda, the Windward Islands, set 320 to beat the Leeward Islands, will resume today’s final day on 128 for four.



Scores in the match so far are Leeward Islands 325 and 198, Windward Islands 204 and 128 for four.
