The president of Guyana, Bharrat Jagdeo, has been included on a high-level United Nations panel to try to raise money to help developing nations tackle climate change.
UN secretary general, Ban ki Moon, says the panel will be led by the British and Ethiopian prime ministers.
It has been mandated to follow up on pledges which were made at the Copenhagen summit in December.
Wealthy nations promised then to provide $10 billion a year up to 2012.
The new group is expected to issue recommendations before the next conference to be held in Cancun in Mexico in December.
