Jamaican jockey win two races
Jamaican jockey Shaun Bridgmohan sustained his fine recent form with two wins yesterday that moved him within one victory of the jockeys’ lead at Fair Grounds racetrack in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Bridgmohan won the second and third races, both for top trainer Steve Asmussen, to complete a remarkable eight wins in the last three racedays.
The 30-year-old Spanish Town, Jamaica, native now has 49 wins this season, just one behind leading rider James Graham on 50.
Bridgmohan, who had blazed four wins on Saturday and picked up a double on Sunday, won yesterday’s US$11,000 second race over six furlongs with the 7-to-5 favourite MINE OR WHO’S.
His other winner was ALBELIA in the US$18,000 third race over six furlongs.
The Fair Grounds season, which started on November 6, ends on March 28.
