India score dramatic win over South Africa
Hosts India beat South Africa by an innings and 58 runs in the second Test in Kolkata today to level the two-match series.
The visitors began the day on 115 for 3 and got within touching distance of forcing a draw, losing the last wicket with only 13 minutes of play remaining.
Harbhajan Singh, five for 59, claimed the final wicket, trapping Morne Morkel lbw for 12, prompting the Eden Gardens crowd to erupt in celebrations.
Last man Morkel had hung on valiantly, facing 60 balls as he and man-of-the-match Hashim Amla batted for 76 minutes in their brave but ultimately fruitless 10th-wicket stand.
Alma, who was also voted man-of-the-series, remained unbeaten on 123.
The win means India retain their place ahead of South Africa at the top of the Test world rankings.
Final scores in the match are South Africa 296 and 290, India 643 for six declared.
