Winter Olympics Round Up
Maria Riesch of Germany won the women\'s super-combined gold medal on today’s seventh day of the Vancouver Olympics after Lindsey Vonn crashed in the slalom.
Downhill gold medalist Vonn, who was hampered by a painful right shin, was the last to ski in the slalom after being fastest in the morning downhill but crashed out and lost her right ski.
Riesch had a total time of 2 minutes, 09.14 seconds to beat Julia Mancuso of the United States by 0.94 seconds.
It was a second silver in as many days for Mancuso, who was runner-up to Vonn in the downhill race.
Anja Paerson of Sweden took the bronze, 1.05 behind Riesch.
Meanwhile, Tora Berger of Norway earned her first Olympic gold medal by winning the women\'s 15-kilometer individual biathlon race.
Berger missed only one target on her very last shot for a 1-minute penalty, but had built up such a large lead that it didn\'t matter. She finished in 40 minutes 58.2, beating silver medalist Elena Khrustaleva of Kazakhstan by 20.7 seconds.
United States lead the medal table with 14, including five gold, three silver and six bronze. Germany are second with 10 medals including three gold, four silver and three bronze.
