St Kitts PM hits back at black list
The St Kitts Prime Minister, Denzil Douglas, has hit back at France for including the twin-island federation on a French black list of countries considered to be uncooperative tax havens.
Eight Caribbean countries are included on that list, and Paris has threatened to impose sanctions on its domestic companies doing business with the named countries.
Dr Douglas says France acted out of turn and prematurely as so far, St Kitts and Nevis has signed nine, out of the required 12, different tax sharing agreements with the Organisation for Economic Co-orporation and Development (OECD) countries.
Dr Douglas says St Kitts and Nevis expects to signed the 12 agreements by next month, which is the deadline given by the OECD for countries to be taken off a so-called grey list of non-cooperative states.
