West Indies suffer 4-0 defeat
West Indies suffered a 4-0 series defeat to Australia after losing the fifth and final One-Day International by 125 runs in Melbourne today.
The Caribbean side set a victory target of 325 was bowled out for 199 in 36.5 overs with Darren Sammy topscoring with 47 off 41 balls.
Kieron Pollard also got into the 40s, slamming 45 off 51 balls.
Lendl Simmons 29, Nikita Miller 22 and Dwayne Smith 21 got starts but failed to carry on.
Doug Bollinger was Australia’s top bowler with three for 32, while Ryan Harris and Steven Smith picked up two wickets apiece.
Earlier, Australia piled up 324 for five with half centuries from Shane Watson 51, captain Ricky Ponting 61 and James Hopes 57.
Kieron Pollard and Ravi Rampaul ended with two wickets each for West Indies.
The win gave Australia a 4-0 series triumph, after game three in Sydney was washed out. Australia had won the Test series 3-0.
The teams will now play two 20/20 international.
