Grenadian ministers deny blocking probe
Two senior Grenadian government ministers have denied media reports that their colleagues are blocking an investigation into allegations of corruption against the former Keith Mitchell administration.
On the weekend, newspaper reports and editorials called for Prime Minister Tillman Thomas to dismiss the ministers accused of blocking the probe.
However, in a radio interview, Foreign Affairs Minister Peter David and Finance Minister Nazim Burke denied that any such attempt is being made.
The Grenadian government had earlier confirmed that an investigation was taking place into corruption allegations against members of the last administration but declined to provide details.
The Finance Minister says various investigations are ongoing and, in one instance, he says the probe is well advanced.
