Venezuela station in row with government

Venezuelan cable television channel (RCTV) International, has agreed to comply with Venezuelan law after it was removed from the airwaves last month.

The station has in the past openly expressed its critical stance on President Hugo Chavez.

The company has also announced the creation of a new channel which they say will contain more than 70 per cent international production and therefore will not be subject to national laws, or required to carry government broadcasts.

The decision to remove RCTV International from the airwaves sparked large protests last month as critics accused the government of trying to control the airwaves in an election year.
