Skiing through difficult conditions on Whistler Mountain, Elisabeth Goergl of Austria posted the fastest time today in the first run of the women\'s giant slalom on day 13 of the Vancouver Olympics.

Goergl, who earned a bronze medal in the downhill at the start of the Vancouver Games, sped down the course in 1 minute, 15.12 seconds.

Defending champion Julia Mancuso of the US finished 18th after having to re-start her run following the crash of American teammate Lindsey Vonn.

Sweden won the men\'s cross-country skiing relay, with Marcus Hellner pulling away on the last leg for his second gold medal of the Olympics.

Hellner was joined by Daniel Richardsson, Johan Olsson and Anders Soedergren. The Swedes won the 4 by 10-kilometer race in 1hour, 45 minutes, 5.4 seconds.

Petter Northug used a furious final leg to secure silver for Norway. The Czech Republic took bronze.

There were six medals to be awarded today. The others are in the women\'s bobsled, women\'s aerials, the women\'s 3,000-meter short track speedskating relay and the women\'s 5,000 on the long track.

In men\'s bobsled, the Netherlands pulled out of the four-man competition because the team\'s driver told coaches he has lost his confidence.

Meanwhile, the USA are still leading the medal table. They have so far mined 26 medals including seven gold, nine silver and 10 bronze. Germany are second with a medal haul of 23 including seven gold, nine silver and seven bronze.
