Seismologists in Trinidad are seeking to assure that last weekend\'s earthquake in Chile will not affect the rest of the Caribbean.

Following Saturday\'s quake, there were reports that a similar occurrence was imminent in the twin-island republic.

However, the seismology department of the University of the West Indies, says the tremor was not directly related to Trinidad or the wider Caribbean.

However, Head of the department, Dr Richard Robertson, says persons should still be prepared for such an event.
