Guyanese food producers told to comply

The director of Guyana’s food and drug agency, Marilyn Collins is warning small and medium sized food producers that they will not be able to secure more export markets if they fail to comply with internationally recognised safety standards.

New laws governing food safety will soon make it mandatory for food processing entities to implement the system known as the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points.

Ms. Collins says those companies that do not meet the international standards will not be able to trade with the Caribbean and other regions.
