A group of private school directors in Haiti has submitted a petition to President Rene Preval demanding that schools reopen immediately, whether in tents, temporary buildings or other makeshift facilities.
The January 12 earthquake in Haiti dealt a devastating blow to the country\'s already struggling education sector.
Since the quake, schools in Port-au-Prince and the other affected towns remained closed.
Nearly 4,000 students and more than 700 teachers and other staff were reported killed following the 7.0 quake.
