Mexico coach Javier Aguirre says he will wait until June 1 to name his 23-man squad for the World Cup, which begins with a match against host South Africa in the tournament opener on June 11.

Mexico will open a training camp later this month for the local-based players.

Aguirre says a squad of 23 Mexico-based players will depart in mid May for a series of matches in Europe.

He says the Europe-based players will join the team at a later date.

Aguirre had said earlier he planned to name the final squad on April 10.
