Vegas, Lyons unleash tournament song
Popular Jamaican dancehall artiste Mr. Vegas and Trinidadian soca star Fay Ann Lyons have teamed up to produce the tournament song for the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) 20/20 World Championship in the Caribbean.
The song, entitled “Bring It”, is an upbeat fusion of soca and dancehall and is named after the event’s slogan.
Michelle Gibson, the tournament’s regional marketing manager, says the song captured the major elements of the glitzy Caribbean showpiece.
Featuring 12 nations across four zones, the tournament will bowl off on April 30 and ends on May 16.
Hosts West Indies, who reached the semi-final at last year’s edition in England, will contest Group ‘D’ in Guyana against England and Ireland.
Defending champions Pakistan will do battle with Australia and Bangladesh in Group ‘A’ being hosted in St Lucia.
The women’s tournament will run concurrently in St Kitts.
