Gayle anxious to sink Zimbabwe

West Indies captain Chris Gayle has warned his players not to relax although they have taken a 2-1 lead over Zimbabwe following an easy 141-run victory in the third One-day International at Arnos Vale Sports Complex in St Vincent yesterday.

Gayle says he will be looking to wrap up the five-match series when the teams face off in the fourth game tomorrow at the same venue.

Gayle praised all-rounder Darren Sammy and the overall team effort that rushed the Caribbean side to the lopsided victory.

After their humiliating loss to the little-rated tourists in the first match last Thursday, West Indies rebounded to level the series with a four-wicket victory on Sunday and yesterday’s huge triumph gave them a valuable 2-1 lead.

Sammy returned a career-best four for 26 off 10 overs that restricted Zimbabwe to 104 all out in 31.5 overs.

Earlier, veteran left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul anchored West Indies to 245 for 9 off 50 overs.

The 35-year-old top scored with 58 off 76 deliveries.

Openers Chris Gayle 33 and Adrian Barath 35 had set a solid platform with a first-wicket stand of 48, while the late order beefed up the total by adding 92 runs from the last 10 overs.
