Australia wrapped up the Chappell-Hadlee series against hosts New Zealand with a game still to play thanks to a comfortable six-wicket win under the Duckworth-Lewis method in Auckland today.

After being put in to bat New Zealand line-up struggled to a below-par total of 238 as they were bowled out in just 44.1overs.

Brendon McCallum top scored with 61.

Spin bowler Nathan Hauritz was the most successful bowler for Australia with 3 for 46. James Hopes, Mitchell Johnson and Shane Watson supported with two wickets apiece.

Rain then interrupted proceedings, leaving Australia to chase a revised target of 200 from 34 overs.

They were in trouble at 85 for 3 but Cameron White hit 50 not out to see them to 202 for 4 and an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

Captain Ricky Ponting also scored 50, while Adam Voges 34 and opener Shane Watson 32 supported with useful knocks.

Daniel Vettori was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers with two for 29 off seven overs.

The final match will take place on Saturday in Wellington.
