Jamaica could be without midfielder Shantel Bailey and defender Shanice Bowen when they face Canada this evening in their opening game of the CONCACAF Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Bailey and Bowen were prevented from travelling with the team from Miami on Tuesday night following visa technicality.

The players were told by American Airport staff they could not board the flight because their three-month US visas did not conform to Costa Rican entry requirements.

However, communications manager at the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Nodley Wright says the visas technicality has been sorted out and the players are scheduled to arrive just before match time.

The Group ‘A’ game will take place at the Morera Soto Stadium, starting at 7.30 p.m. Jamaica time.

The Jamaica, Canada match will be the second of two matches in the Group, as Panama and Mexico will face off in the opening game.

Last night the USA and hosts Costa Rica secured big victories in Group ‘B’.

USA swamped Haiti 9-0 while Costa Rica hammered Cayman Islands 7-0.

Two sides will emerge from the eight-team championship to advance to the Under-17 World Cup along with host Trinidad in September.
