The defending champions St Jago High and Holmwood Technical will enter today’s final day of the two-day Milo Central Championships at GC Foster College in Spanish Town as the early leaders.

After 13 boys’ finals, St Jago High have surged ahead with 123-and-a-half points, with Holmwood Technical in second place on 68 followed by Edwin Allen with 53-and-a-half points.

In the girls’ section, Holmwood Technical are ahead with 146 points, one more than last year’s runners up Edwin Allen after 19 finals. St Jago High hold down third place with 132-and-a-half points.

Meanwhile, yesterday’s opening day accounted for 10 meet records with Jamaica’s junior representative Natoya Goule of Manchester High accounting for two.

Goule first set a new mark in the Girls’ Open 3,000 metres. She won the race in 10 minutes 31.82 seconds, surpassing the previous mark of 10 minutes 32.10 seconds, which was set by his schoolmate Meisha Morgan last year.

Goule returned later to win the Girls Class One 800-metre final in two minutes 12.01 seconds breaking the previous record of two minutes 12.83 set by Holmwood Technical’s Bobby-Gaye Wilkins in 2008.
