Jamaica will not be represented at the 2010 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup competition because of the high cost involved to participate.

Chairman of the Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA) Edward Seaga confirmed the country’s non-participation in a letter to CONCACAF president, Austin ‘Jack’ Warner.

Seaga said the PLCA teams were not in a position to finance the cost of participating in the competition.

Seaga said the cost of participating could run a club just under $6 million.

Tivoli Gardens, the reigning Digicel Premier League champions, were eligible to compete in the Caribbean Cup.

Seaga, who is also president of Tivoli Gardens Football Club, further said local club could compete in the future if costs were significantly reduced.

He also said the Caribbean Cup competition should be reorganized to avoid conflict with the Digicel Premier League.
