The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association has criticized the government’s decision to impose a tax on service charges in the tourist industry.
A 1.5 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) has been levied on service charges.
The association said the tax will affect the island’s tourist industry which is one of Grenada’s main revenue earners.
The Tillman Thomas government introduced the value added tax to replace the Motor Vehicle, Airport and the General Consumption taxes.
