Jamaica grab lone win at Under 17 qualifiers
Jamaica’s young Reggae Girls are scheduled to arrive in the country later today after an unsuccessful campaign at the CONCACAF Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers in Costa Rica.
The Jamaicans registered their sole victory in Group ‘A’ of the qualifiers last night with a 2-nil victory over Panama.
Both teams entered the encounter already eliminated from semi-final contention after suffering a pair of losses in their opening two games to Canada and Mexico.
Shantel Bailey and Trudi Carter scored for Jamaica.
In the other Group ‘A’ game last night, Mexico edged Canada 1-nil through a beautiful Diana Gonzalez free kick from 40 yards out, two minutes before half-time.
Mexico will now tackle hosts Costa in the semifinals on Thursday, while United States will face Canada.
