Walker, DaCosta winners at Caymanas Park
Champion trainer Wayne DaCosta and his stable-jockey, reigning champion Omar Walker, teamed up for three winners at Caymanas Park yesterday, including the unbeaten American four-year-old gelding, CASSANOVA BOY, in the Zaleucus Trophy open allowance feature.
CASSANOVA BOY, offering odds of 1-to-5, stamped himself as perhaps the best horse in the country now when slamming last year’s Superstakes winner HOMBRE by four-and-three-quarter lengths in the opening Zaleucus Trophy race over 1800 metres.
The 2007 Derby winner, THE BOMBER, finished third.
Their other winners on the 10-race programme were 1-to-9 favourite THE KING AND I in the sixth race over 1100 metres, and the lightly-raced American three-year-old colt, DOUBLE HONEY, who made all in the ninth race over 1100 metres.
DOUBLE HONEY stopped the clock in an eye-popping one-minute 04.1seconds.
Meanwhile, CASH PAT with jockey Rudolph Paige won the Long Shot Trophy over 1300 metres, while 17-to-1 shot WESTERN GENIUS with Carlton Malcolm took the City of Kingston Centenary Cup over a mile.
