Appeal for new selection process

One of the four people hoping to become the presidential candidate for Guyana\'s governing Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) is calling for a new system to decide on the candidate.



Former government minister Moses Nagamootoo disagrees with President Bharrat Jagdeo that the PPP has an established mechanism to choose the presidential candidate.



Mr. Nagamootoo is calling for the broadest possible consultation.



He says that\'s preferable to having the matter of the presidential candidate decided at the party\'s executive meeting.
