Olympic beach volleyball qualifiers open today
Four English-speaking Caribbean teams including Jamaica and hosts Cayman Islands are down to participate in the first leg of the Beach Volleyball NORCECA Circuit, starting today.
The other Caribbean teams taking part in the opening competition are St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago, and the Caymans.
The United States, Canada and Puerto Rico have registered two men’s teams to participate.
There will be 12 stops on the circuit and teams will be aiming to gain points to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
It is the second straight year that the Caymans are hosting the competition that kicks-off the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit.
Canada, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago, United States, and hosts Cayman Islands will compete with entries in both genders, while Aruba and El Salvador only will participate in the men’s tournament.
