Guyana’s Health Minister Leslie Ramsammy is reporting that the country’s malaria situation remains worrying despite numerous efforts to get it under control.
Ramsammy said close to 3,000 cases have been confirmed this year.
He said this trend poses a threat to reducing malaria cases for 2010.
The health minister said while the ministry has distributed more than 80,000 nets in the Hinterland Regions, they’re not being used.
He said additional health teams have been dispatched to affected areas.
