A dispute is reportedly brewing in Trinidad and Tobago between trade unions and the Government in Trinidad and Tobago over the issue of salaries for public sector workers.
The country’s two main trade union organisations have vowed to take action if the Patrick Manning led administration does not settle all outstanding negotiations by June 19.
They’re also protesting the government\'s plans to shut down the Inland Revenue Division and the Customs and Excise Department, to be replaced by a new organisation, the Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority.
The unions say the move will result in 2,000 civil servants losing their jobs.
However, the government has said that its intention is to improve tax collection.
