Rose to headline Barbados CARIFTA swim team
Diminutive Youth Olympics qualifier Lee Ann Rose will headline a Barbados swim team to contest the 2010 CARIFTA Swimming Championships scheduled for Jamaica next month.
An 11-member team, comprising nine females and two males, will travel to Jamaican next week for the April 2 to 7 games.
Rose goes to Jamaica having clocked two minutes, 23.14 seconds in the 200-metre backstroke to be the highest ranked female time at the recently staged Long Course National Championship.
The lone 15 to 17 girl, Rose holds the fastest times ever done by a Barbadian female in the 100 and 200-metre backstroke events. She will be competing in seven events.
Zabrina Holder, who experienced plenty success at several regional championships last year, has been entered to compete in 11 events over a range of distances in the 13 to 14 age group.
Her teammate Deandre Small, also competing this year in the 13 to 14 age group will be a threat in the 10 events she is poised to contest.
Amara Gibbs, who will compete in eight events, and newcomer Crystal Jordan-Browne, complete the four-member 13-14 girls’ division.
