Walker, Mitchell secure two victories each
Champion jockey Omar Walker has moved seven wins clear atop the jockeys’ standing after securing two victories on yesterday’s 10-race card at Caymanas Park.
Walker won aboard 4-to-5 favourite JUNGLE QUEEN in the fifth race and MOMENT OF HOPE at odds of 9-5 in the sixth, both for champion trainer Wayne DaCosta.
As a result of the victories, Walker has moved to 25 wins. Paul Francis holds down second place with 18 wins.
Richard Mitchell also secured a double on the card to move to 10 wins for the year. His winners were 7-to-2 shot GLOBAL WARMING in the third and FUNNY SIDE at odds of 6-to-1 in the fourth.
Racing continues on Saturday with another 10-race card featuring the Jamaica Jockeys’ Guild Trophy over 1400 metres and Al Gopie Memorial Cup over the straight five course.
