T&T named squad for CARIFTA swim title
Trinidad and Tobago have announced a 35-member team which they hope will help them with a successful defence of their CARIFTA swim title when the championships get going next week in Jamaica.
Dylan Carter and Kimberlee John-Williams will lead T&T’s bid to repeat as champions at the 25th edition of the regional competition set for the National Stadium Pool from April 3 to 6.
At the Roly Bisslik Olympic Pool in Aruba last year, T&T topped the medal table with a haul of 67 medals, piling up 815.5 points to beat the Bahamas and Guadeloupe into second and third respectively.
Carter will compete in the boys’ 13 to 14 age category and will be joined by the likes of Blaine Sobrian, Jeron O’Brien, Jonathan Gonzales and Jonathan Ramkissoon.
Last year, Carter stormed to eight gold medals, including three meet records and much rests on his shoulders again.
John-Williams will see action in the girls’ 15 to 17 age category and will be supported by Cherelle Thompson, Kadeja Phillip, and Makayla Armstrong. She will be attempting to better her haul of six gold medals from last year.
The England-based Christian Homer, who picked up three gold medals last year, will lead the charge in the 15 to 17 age group.
