Organizers looking for funds as tournament looms

Eleven countries have confirmed their attendance for the Caribbean Netball Association’s 11th Jean Pierre Youth tournament as organizers scramble to meet their 500,000 Barbados-dollar budget for the event.



Hosts Barbados will join defending champions Jamaica, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St Kitts, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago in contesting the annual tournament from April 8 to 18.



However, local organizing committee chairman Marlene Hall revealed that while they were 80 per cent ready, only $280,000 of their half-million dollar budget had been secured.



The tournament venue, the Netball Stadium, has also undergone a facelift.



The minor upgrades have been virtually completed and are expected to be finished by month end.
