Boys’ Town, Humble Lions to contest Flow final
Reigning champions Boys’ Town and central Jamaica outfit Humble Lions have earned the right to playoff for the all-island knockout Flow Champion Cup after securing semi-final victories last night at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
Boys’ Town, led by a hat-trick from Renae Lloyd, outscored community rivals Arnett Gardens 4-3 in the second semi-final to remain in contention for back-to-back titles, while Humble Lions edged St Georges, from eastern Jamaica, 1-0.
Kimroy Davis scored the only goal of the match in the 54th minute as Humble Lions gained their first entry to a national championship final.
Lloyd got his first of three goals in the 23rd minute to give Boys’ Town a 1-0 lead and followed up with strikes in the 76th and 81st minutes.
Michael Campbell scored Boys’ Town’s other goal in the 68th minute, while Kevin King scored twice for Arnett Gardens.
King scored in the 28th minute to level the scores at 1-1and secured his double in the 79th minute.
Newton Sterling also scored for Arnett Gardens, his 31st minute strike had given his team a 2-1 lead.
The competition’s winner will take home $800,000, the runners-up $400,000, and the losing semi-finalists $200,000 each.
