St Thomas, Kensington secure victories
St Thomas and Kensington secured victories yesterday to keep their perfect records in the Jamaica Cricket Association Senior Cup competition.
St Thomas defeated Boys’ Town by an innings and 89 runs at Collie Smith Drive; while Kensington, led by left arm spinner Dennis Bulli, secured a 10-wicket victory over Portland at Kensington.
Bulli, ended with match-haul of eight for 58, to wreck Portland.
In the first innings on Saturday, he took six wickets with six balls to finish with figures of seven for 16 as Portland could only manage 105.
Maurice Kepple then scored an undefeated century and David Bernard Junior chipped in with 63 to lead Kensington to 239 for eight declared.
Batting a second time, Portland facing a first innings deficit of 134 were bowled out for 197 with spinner Akeem Dewar bagging four for 56 and Bulli one for 41.
Needing just 63 runs for victory, Kensington ended on 64 without loss with Horace Miller undefeated on 50 and Ranvile Brown eight.
Following the second round of matches, St Thomas and Kensington are joint leaders in Group ‘A’ on 12 points each, nine ahead of Lucas, who won first innings points from Kingston and St Andrew at Maxfield Park.
Meanwhile, Hanover defeated Police by 35 runs in their two-day match at Elgin Town to climb to the top of Group ‘B’ with nine points, two ahead of GC Foster, who picked up one point from their match against Clarendon at Jamalco.
GC Foster lost first innings in the drawn encounter.
The competition continues this weekend.
