Trini elections coming

Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Patrick Manning says his governing Peoples National Movement will begin screening potential candidates for parliament next week.

The move is seen as a sign that he’s close to calling early elections.

Mr Manning told a special PNM rally on the weekend that candidate screening will begin on April 7.

That’s two days before opposition leader Kamla Persad Bissessar is expected to file a motion of no confidence against him in parliament.
