Bailiff turns up at JFF office to cease assets

Operations at the offices of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) were disrupted today as a representative from a local bailiff firm, acting on behalf of England-based Company NVA Management, turned up to seize assets belonging to the local football governing body.

The matter concerns a debt of $1.6 million owed to NVA Management Limited under the previous administration led by Crenston Boxhill.

However, calm was restored after the JFF was forced to use staff salaries to settle half of the debt.

JFF’s general secretary Horace Reid said the remainder of the debt is due in another 15 days.

The JFF owed NVA Management after the overseas-based firm helped to organize a tour of England in 2006. During the tour, the Reggae Boyz were hammered 6-0 by England and 4-1 by Ghana.

Reid said based on a judgment from the court in England, the Boxhill administration owed NVA Management for outstanding hotel bills, chauffer bills and other incidentals.
