ALP stepping up the pressure

The opposition Antigua Labour Party (ALP) says it will be picketing the office of Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer to prevent him from going to work.

Yesterday, an historic court ruling declared the seats of Baldwin Spencer and two of his Cabinet colleagues invalid, leaving the country\'s parliament in a seven-seven split of seats, with three undecided.

ALP leader and former prime minister, Lester Bird, also says he will be filing a constitutional motion in the high court challenging Mr Spencer\'s position.

Lawyers representing the government have obtained a stay of execution and say they’re setting in motion procedures to appeal the decision.

Attorney General Justin Simon says the country is not in a constitutional crisis.
