Sarwan and Taylor named in WI squad
Ramnaresh Sarwan and Jerome Taylor have been named in West Indies’ 15-member squad for the 20/Twenty World Cup in the Caribbean from April 30 to May 11.
The West Indies selection panel have included Sarwan and Taylor following injury layoffs.
The selectors have recalled Wavell Hinds, after he was ignored for the recent home series against Zimbabwe and stuck with wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin.
Sarwan has been out of action, since he injured his back when training on West Indies’ tour of Australia last November.
Taylor has not played any serious cricket in recent months, and will have to spend the next few weeks trying to get match fit.
West Indies have been drawn in Group-D of the first stage that will be contested at the Guyana National Stadium.
They face Ireland on Friday, April 30 in a day/night, and England on Monday, May 3 in a day game.
The remaining members of the squad are Chris Gayle captain, Sulieman Benn, Dwayne Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Andre Fletcher, Nikita Miller, Kieron Pollard, Ravi Rampaul, Darren Sammy, Kemar Roach and Jerome Taylor.
