Jamaica, Ireland draw in three-day match
Fast bowling all-rounder Andre Russell scored an undefeated century as the three-day Supreme Ventures Betting-sponsored Jamaica Cricket Festival between hosts Jamaica and Ireland ended in a draw at Chedwin Park yesterday.
Russell slammed 108 not out as Jamaica, leading Ireland by 64 runs on first innings, were 314 for seven when the game was called off.
It was the second century of the match following 102 from David Bernard Junior in Jamaica’s first innings total.
Russell was supported by Brenton Parchment 83 and Danza Hyatt 53.
Gary Kidd was the most successful bowler for Ireland with three for 102.
Earlier, Ireland resuming the final day on 275 for nine, failed to add to their overnight total.
Andre Russel and Akeem Dewar led Jamaica’s attack with four wickets each.
Final scores in the match:- Jamaica 339 and 314 for seven; Ireland 275.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the Twenty/Twenty version of the festival, which also features Canada and West Indies.
